Interested in a fast paced and dynamic environment where you will study all aspects of mechanical engineering? Does the prospect of utilizing and expanding your talents as a mechanical engineer to solve a variety of diverse physical phenomena within the mechanical engineering discipline appeal to you?

As a CAE Engineer you will conduct extensive Finite Element Analysis (using ANSYS APDL, ANSYS Workbench) and experimental validations on various mechanical phenomena as part of the mechanical design optimization of hard disk drives. You will also participate in problem solving strategy sessions and provide innovative thought in all aspects of HDD mechanics and enabler development. Your excellent communication skills and ability to present results to a wide audience ranging from peer to executive level communication will be required.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively involved in group brain-storming sessions and technical activities.
  • Support advanced mechanical and staging projects.
  • Able to actively drive the mechanical design with optimization analysis that highlights performance / cost and reliability trade-offs.
  • Recommend design directions to meet product performance requirements during development and FA stages.
  • Able to integrate with a diverse and talented team.
  • Passionate about the field of FEA and its application to a wide variety of problems.
  • Ability to handle several time sensitive projects and deliver reliable results to meet a very demanding and aggressive schedule.
  • Understanding of GD&T and how it translates into critical parameters for simulation.
  • Able to understand and apply design for manufacturing and design for assembly.
  • Willingness to tackle a wide range of problems including static, non-linear mechanics, dynamics, shock, vibration, electro-magnetic and thermal type problems.

REQUIRED:

  • PhD or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years professional FE analysis experience (expert level ANSYS APDL required).
  • Excellent team work and communication.
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • MATLAB, and SOLIDWORKS experience required
  • Demonstrated excellence in various fields within the mechanical engineering discipline (thermal, structural, shock, vibration, non-linear mechanics, electro-magnetics, electro-mechanical, solid mechanics and dynamics experience required).
  • Some travel to Japan may be required.

PREFERRED:

  • High volume manufacturing experiences a plus.
