Western Digital's Client Solutions group is responsible for WD’s consumer digital media and storage solutions, including the award-winning My Cloud devices.  Our Milpitas, California-based team is developing the application software that drives these solutions, enabling users to see and share their music, pictures, videos, and documents anywhere and anytime. Whether your screen is a mobile phone, tablet, television, or computer, it’s easy to enjoy the content in your WD personal cloud.  To continue delivering on our vision, we are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Sr. Manager to join our Software QA team!



  • Work closely with peers in Product Management and Product Development to scope and prioritize projects, allocate resources, and plan the product roadmap.
  • Provide guidance in the execution of projects, ensuring on-time delivery with results that meet or exceed commitments.
  • Handle escalations and resolve issues when they come up, and work to minimize them through mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Play an active role in the continuous improvement process, identifying root causes and corrective actions to avoid repeating mistakes and constantly raise the level of performance of your team.
  • Work with managers, leads, and senior technical contributors to find innovative ways to test more effectively.
  • Establish and enforce standards which ensure sufficient quality as delivered by Product Development in your area.
  • Mentor individuals and leads and assist in their career growth, helping them to realize their full potential.
  • Ensure that our test strategies focus on the areas of greatest risk, and identify defects as early as possible in the development lifecycle.
  • Customer-focused, resourceful, detail-oriented, adaptable, and flexible. Demonstrated leadership skills and a solid technical background.  Your background will include successful collaboration in cross-functional teams to deliver products of excellent quality which achieve the business goals. 
  • Must be a proactive and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing. 
  • At least eight years of experience in quality assurance/quality engineering, including at least two years in a leadership role.
  • Broad technical knowledge of user interface intensive applications, mobile applications, web services, and databases, including usability, accessibility, performance, browser compatibility, data feeds, and fault tolerance.
  • Excellent knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Java, Javascript, Python AJAX, SOAP, and related technologies.
  • Experience with test automation tools or other programmatic scripting frameworks.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time with excellent quality.
  • Experience dealing with geographically dispersed teams.
  • BSCS (or related) degree required or equivalent in industry experience
