Reporting to the VP of Enterprise People Strategy, Development and Culture, the Senior Director of Enterprise Talent Management Strategy is a thought partner and visionary leader; able to partner globally with Senior level executives to identify and prioritize strategic talent needs and design talent solutions for Western Digital to successfully compete now and into the future.   He/She will be responsible to oversee the design and development of new enterprise-wide talent initiatives leveraging workforce data and analytics to drive progressive and business focused talent management and people development strategies.   The Senior Director has the keen ability to translate the talent needs into financial imperatives for workforce planning, establishing the expected ROI for new initiatives and securing buy-in and sponsorship for investments in talent technology, tools and programs. 


Be a thought leader in the areas of Talent Management, People & Leadership Development; Learning and Talent Strategy and Technology, Workforce Transformation, Employee Engagement and Workforce Culture Alignment

Lead the assessment of Western Digital’s talent needs understanding current and future leadership and capability skill gaps.

Responsible for leading the design and overseeing the project teams that develop new global solutions in the areas of Talent Management and People Development in a highly dynamic and changing environment.

Continuously assess the Company’s Talent suite including Learning and Talent Infrastructure, Talent reviews, Succession planning and related tools to meet current and future needs. Bring forward proposals working together with IT, external vendors and HR leadership to maximize and optimize Talent technologies.

Challenge the status-quo by bringing in new perspectives regarding workforce and talent management practices, approaches and tools. 

Present compelling solutions and business cases to Senior Executives to secure funding, sponsorship for projects and initiatives and drive buy-in on implementing specific global solutions.

Lead global, cross-functional project teams made up of HR and business team members assigned to the project.

Work in very high collaboration across the Enterprise People Strategy, Development and Culture Management team as well as across all of HR. 

Effectively scope projects, develop project plans and milestones, communication and change plans for successful completion of the projects and solution adoption. 

Create and continuously update project and change management plans to deliver high quality solutions, on time and on budget, with successful implementation.

Align talent solutions and deliverables with Diversity & Inclusion expectations and Company Culture attributes


10-15 years minimum related experience working for progressive organizations in the areas of Talent management, Talent Development, Organizational Development.

Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree, MS/MBA (or equivalent) in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or Related Field preferred.

Minimum 5 years of consulting experience with a combination of change management and organizational development expertise in a large, global organization preferred.

Deployment of expert skills, knowledge and abilities in organization development/ effectiveness technical content domains (e.g., performance management, employee engagement, succession planning, workforce planning, business culture alignment, change management).

Innovative, creative, able to inspire both colleagues and stakeholders towards a best in class vision for Enterprise Talent Solutions.

A growth mindset demonstrating ability to learn and adjust quickly and bring others along when designing or implementing new initiatives.

Visionary leader focused on improving, developing and broadening skills and envisioning scalable digital and blended learning solutions leveraging innovative technologies.

Experience working in a large-scale global, fast-paced, innovative, multi-cultural company, with exposure working with colleagues or employees outside the US.  

Experience presenting solutions and business case to Senior Executives to secure funding, sponsorship for projects and initiatives, and agreement on implementing specific global solutions.

Ability to work with and influence a wide range of cross-functional work teams and leaders within a matrix organization.

Demonstrated strategic leadership and ability to understand the strategic context, translate organizational development implications and generate a change approach, solutions that drives the desired results.

Proven experience in diagnosing organizational talent requirements and translating these into practical application and approaches for talent management and development.

Proven experience in developing and implementing progressive scalable, sustainable enterprise-wide talent solutions

Knowledge and experience with change management methodologies and leading and facilitating organization/ transformational change initiatives.

Highly collaborative:  Although there will be a small team to support this role, this person will program manage several key initiatives directly.

Able to apply Design thinking and Agile methodologies in project management and learning design and development. 

Strong communication and presentations skills, ability to create high-impact, compelling presentations geared to Senior Executives.
