As Security Systems Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of physical security systems in approximately xx locations in Western Digital’s North America portfolio (primarily in California, Colorado and Minnesota).  In addition, you will have increasing exposure and responsibility to support project management of new installations as well as testing and validation of new technology to be implemented in our exciting, massive global ecosystem harmonization project that is just being initiated.    

 

The ideal candidate will have experience working in IT and Physical Security and not only be conversant in the lingo, but more importantly they will value the competency, respect the input, and seek to build meaningful and lasting collaborative and professional relationships within the Global Security team and with our internal partners.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.  Discern when to resolve through internal means or assign to local security system integrators (SSI).
  • Verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes (process will be automated with trigger alerts and dashboards established post-Splunk integration).
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts in… per request.  Discern when elevated privileges have been granted or requested beyond the scope of the user’s needs.
  • Lead a comprehensive assessment process including data compilation and trend analysis, to measure the health of the edge components of the systems, to regularly determine which devices need attendance by local SSI, and to provide visibility of this activity through consistent reporting.
  • Program new devices added to video management systems (VMS) and to physical access control systems (PACS).
  • Conduct testing on new releases of updated systems software and hardware.
  • Assist with global project work, strategic planning, program management, Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator and SSI KPIs, implementation, and tracking of actions and accomplishments.
  • Participate in assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities and any possible intrusions.


 

REQUIRED:
  
  • Bachelor's degree, trade school and/or certified training or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with physical security systems administration.
  • Knowledge and skills appropriate for managing multiple large-scale, simultaneous security systems (or other IT/IS systems).
  • Experience with one or more of the following access control systems (certification preferred):
    Software House, Lenel, AMAG, S2
  • Experience with one or more of the following video surveillance systems (certification preferred):
    Genetec, 3VR, Avigilon
  • Experienced with system upgrade process and practices as well as methodical and careful planning.
  • Experienced with analyzing evolving security requirements to develop effective action plans and help facilitate implementation efforts to a successful conclusion.
  • Comfortable in Command Prompt and/or Terminal.
  • Motivated individual who is a self-starter, a cooperative team player, and who demonstrates a sense of urgency and initiative in determining and completing actions independently.
  • Has a data-driven analytical approach towards solving complex challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively partner with teams completing actions supportive of program efforts.
  • Must be flexible in adapting to changing program priorities, deadlines, tasks, and resource limitations.
  • Must be willing to share workload and responsibilities cooperatively with other team members to satisfactorily accomplish all program requirements.

 

PREFERRED:

  • Proficiency with office systems and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Mac tools, Tableau, Smartsheet)
  • Able to navigate through system databases (mostly SQL) to query data, configure and trouble shoot.
  • Experience and understanding of Enterprise System architecture is a plus.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, synthesizing and analyzing data
  • Exceptional project management and organization skills with and ability to guide others to deliver outstanding results in a timely manner is a plus that may be leveraged at a later time.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Linux, PowerShell, Python, network architecture and protocols, cyber security principals and tools, and/or any other IT principles or programing languages will also prove helpful.
