  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts, members of the Strategic Communications team, and functional program managers/communications leads to identify stories that support the CEO’s key priorities.
  • Develop stories and recommend the most effective ways to present content.
  • Write and edit stories and follow-through on story reviews with subject-matter experts and department leads.
  • Contribute to the Internal Communications editorial calendar and participate in weekly editorial calls with Internal Communications Council members. Establish relationships that help identify story opportunities for Connect’s home page. Stay informed about the wide range of content deployed by council members on Connect.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and subject-matter experts across the company to develop stories that support major internal campaigns and initiatives.
  • Assist with producing and publishing the weekly global Connect TV program by gathering, writing, editing and designing slides that promote Connect content.
  • Work with the Strategic Communications team to advance the effectiveness of internal communications at Western Digital.
  • A highly-motivated communications professional with proven experience in writing, communicating and storytelling across a range of media (including text, visuals, audio and video).
  • An ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and across all business units and geographies.
  • Active listening skills.
  • An ability to take abstract, complicated and technical issues and turn them into simple and powerful narratives.
  • Experience in influencing through robust relationships, expertise and data.
  • An ability to align one’s deliverables with Connect’s editorial tone based on the medium, messages and target audience.
  • Strong organizing skills and the ability to develop, execute and deliver multiple stories at a time while meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly and collaboratively in a sometimes ambiguous environment, while maintaining good judgment and the ability to escalate appropriately.
  • An ability to work as a self-starter and produce content with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related specialty
