Description

Managing the planning, development and implementation of all external communications strategies for Western Digital’s B2C and B2B brands including product launches, trade events, social media campaigns, and digital marketing programmes this role is critical to the ongoing success of the organization in Central and East region.

 

Covering earned media (PR), paid media (digital advertising) and social media in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) & Eastern Europe (Russia, Poland, Czech Rep, etc)  this role reports into the EMEA Communications Director with an indirect reporting line to the regional marketing lead. It requires close cooperation with key regional stakeholders in channel and product marketing and sales, as well as managing multiple regional agencies.

 

Responsibilities also include providing strategic direction regarding communications programmes based on analysis of measured results, as well as content development and sign off. This role requires the management of regional retained agency budgets along with regular Go To Market (GTM) campaigns that are separately funded. Frequent domestic and infrequent international travel is expected.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

- Work with regional marketing and sales leads to deliver pan-EMEA integrated
communications programmes and campaigns across earned, owned and paid media (PR and Social) 


Oversee the delivery of digital and social advertising campaigns and projects and co-manage local agencies to execute regional activities against agreed KPIs.


Manage a reviews and awards programme for our consumer products across all Western Digital brands 


- Regionalize and implement pan-EMEA social media calendars


Manage distribution of product and company news 


Translate pan-EMEA copy and help to generate local content


Local community management and customer support implementation via our social sites


Local influencer management (using agency support where appropriate)


Develop earned media plans to support overall marketing objectives aligned to regional business goals


Manage 1-2-1 relationships with key business media for our enterprise and commercial business units


Manage all communications around key trade events in region


Manage monthly reports using global reporting platform


Execute creative campaigns for momentum media activity outside main news cycle

 

REQUIRED: 

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field of study. Advanced degree is a plus.

3-5 years of related professional experience within a public relation, journalism, social media/digital marketing or related function.


Understanding of Western Digital’s strategic and competitive position


-Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects is a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


-Exceptional communications, writing and presentation skills. The ability to interface with and advise senior leadership.


-Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy.


-Outstanding judgement and creative problem-solving skills.


-Native German speaker for regional base and fluency in English


An understanding of Russian or other Eastern European languages would be a benefit


-Metrics based approach and strong commercial acumen


-A keen understanding of and interest in new technologies especially in the data storage sector.


-An understanding of the IT market (Storage in particular) could be an advantage


-Experience of working in Central & /or Eastern Europe would be an advantage

  
DESIRABLE:

- Experience in creating and managing multi-channel communications campaigns for covering enterprise and consumer technologies.


-Experience leading successful pan-regional or international programs, covering enterprise and consumer technologies.


-Strong media relationships in key technology press in region


-Experience working with media buying agencies or negotiating display advertising with publishers and media platforms

- This role would be based in our Munich Office
