As the Principal Firmware Engineer, Servo Mechanical Engineering, you will be a member of a servo development team.  Working on real-time servo firmware algorithm development, testing, validation, and drive integration for Western Digital Enterprise hard disk drive product.   ​



  • Develop HDD Servo firmware architecture in real time C++ for new product development.    
  • Develop  HDD servo firmware in the areas of servo calibration.
  • Servo FW feature integration and drive level failure analysis during development builds.
  • Bench bring up servo functionalities on new platforms and optimize performance.
  • Resolve engineering issues effectively in the development and integration phase.
  • Work proactively and cross-functionally with the controller FW, channel FW, and servo FW teams.
  • MS/BS EE, MS/BS CE or MS/BS CS with 2+ years of experience in developing real-time embedded firmware.
  • Knowledgeable about servo systems, control theory and embedded programming.
  • Software development background in C/C++ with demonstrable experience in real-time environments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using Matlab, typical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and firmware development/debug tools is required.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a multi-site agile development team
