Western Digital is seeking an Internal & Executive Communications Manager with a passion for technology and storytelling to join the global corporate communications team. The right candidate will work directly with Western Digital’s senior executives and serve as an integral part of Western Digital’s Internal & Executive Communications team by developing, organizing and executing strategic internal communications programs and deliverables for Western Digital executives, leaders and company initiatives across all businesses and geographies. The Internal & Executive Communications Manager will work cross-functionally within the communications team and with internal business partners to develop and deliver strategic visibility plans, including narratives, key messages, speeches/remarks, presentations, blogs and more, with the goal of creating employee awareness and understanding of our leadership vision, focus and thought leadership.


A successful candidate has strong executive presence, is an active listener and has the ability to act as a strategic advisor to business partners, helping them position and effectively communicate about Western Digital. This role requires a highly-motivated communications professional with proven experience in writing, communicating, storytelling, video and in working with senior executives.   The ability to take abstract and complicated issues and turn them into simple and powerful narratives. This position offers an incredible opportunity to create highly impactful communications for the executives of Western Digital.





  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related specialty as this role reports up through Corporate Marketing or equivalent
  • At least 10+ years’ experience in executive communications functions, writing, communications or a related field (e.g. in corporate, journalism, government, political, or nonprofit settings).
  • Change management communications experience (i.e. developing communications strategies and plans around changes that affect people, process and/or technology).
  • Ability to convert technical information into layman-friendly prose.
  • Experience in influencing through robust relationships, expertise and data.
  • Outstanding editorial development skills.
  • Ability to adjust tone and language based on medium, target audience and product.
  • Demonstrable writing and communications skills (please provide samples as needed)
  • Video Storytelling Skills
  • Superb project management and organizing skills – the ability to develop, execute and deliver communication plans, elements and deliverables while meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Have an outstanding ability to distill complex messaging into simple, crisp and clear messaging.
  • The position will be required to work on projects under non-disclosure and must adhere to confidentiality standards.
  • Creative problem-solver, with the ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects autonomously and in an organized fashion, balancing the long-term and urgent needs of the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly and collaboratively in fast-paced and ambiguous environments, maintaining good judgment and the ability to escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to manage a complex set of stakeholders
  • Must be highly organized, flexible, deadline and detail-oriented. Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to produce with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
