As Technical Account Manager you will manage and lead a team of engineers supporting one of Western Digital’s largest and strategic cloud customers, Facebook.  As the technical leader of the account, you will be responsible for developing and providing strategic direction on technical matters related to pre-sales, qualification, and sustaining support.

 

Candidates for this role need to be highly motivated, self-sufficient, and possess strong leadership attributes. Excellent technical and communication skills is a must, able to articulate technical requirements and issues. Occasional domestic or international travel. This position is full-time and located in San Jose, CA area.

 
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Builds and maintain long-term relationship with technology influencers and decision makers at the customer
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction on technical related matters.
  • Work closely with sales team on developing account strategy.
  • Lead and coordinate a variety of technical engagements.
  • Work with customers on technology and product alignment.
  • Identify qual slot opportunities at the customer for all of WD’s portfolio.
  • Manage technical account team resource for tasks including qualification and sustaining activities; help clear road blocks to ensure team success.
  • Manage the resolution of complex issues during qualification and sustaining phase, working with cross functional teams and management as needed.
  • Customer escalation point for technical related issues.
  • Provide executive level summary and status reports to senior management and executives.
  • Be the “voice of the customer” inside Western Digital.

REQUIRED:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience in related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience in engineering or other technical roles including at least five years experience in a technical customer-facing role.
  • Familiar with cloud storage architectures and concepts such as erasure coding, distributed file systems, object storage, Linux OS.
  • Working knowledge of HDD/SSDs and SATA/NVME interface.  Knowledge of storage systems a plus.
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience working and communicating with executives a plus.
