Description Summary:
Western Digital's Client Solutions business develops all branded consumer solutions, including hardware, software, services and digital media, which sell under the WD, SanDisk or G-tech brands. Our Milpitas and Redwood City, California-based team manages and develops the products and services that drive these solutions, enabling users to store, access and share their music, pictures, videos, and documents anywhere and anytime. Whether your screen is a mobile phone, tablet, television, or laptop, it’s easy to enjoy your content using WD and SanDisk products to continue delivering on our vision, we are looking for an accomplished and passionate Product manager to join our team, for new mobile consumer products.
 
The mobile storage product category is highly visible and strategic to the organization. The winning candidate will work closely with engineering, product and go-to-market teams to define, launch and  manage new products growing new categories and establishing market leadership in the consumer electronic space.  He/she must have a proven track record of launching and managing successful consumer products.
The role is key in transforming a traditionally hardware-focused business to one which offers rich consumer experiences through compelling software and cloud services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The product Line manager owns the product life cycle, including product definition, business plan/case, product design, app and services development, launch, ongoing management and end-of life.  He/she is responsible for market analysis, product usage and user feedback to continually improve the product and deliver market leadership and high growth.
 
The candidate will join the team creating the next generation of mobile products, working closely with the development team, outbound and channel marketing teams, sales, business and operation functions to drive success. He/she will define, track and analyze the product success metrics, KPIs and market feedback to continuously recommend and execute improvements.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • BSCS, BSEE, BSME in HW or SW Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Management or marketing degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of overall experience with 3 years of relevant consumer product management in the consumer electronic industry.

  • Proficiency and experience in the following is required:
    • Consumer electronic product management, composed of both hardware devices and mobile apps
    • Strategic vision to Roadmap development
    • Familiarity with product  design/workflow for H/W and S/W including Industrial design and UX/UI
    • Strong analytic capability and Judgement in assessing actionable conclusions
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work with cross functional team: interpersonal skills are key to success in this role
    • Project leadership working closely with engineering and Product peers setting priorities and executing the projects KPIs.
